Robert Shiller, Stanley B Resor Professor of Economics, Yale University, warned at DIFC Week ON Saturday November 17 2007 that possible speculative bubbles in stock, real estate and oil markets could cause instability in the global economy.

Professor Steve Levitt, the University of Chicago, said at DIFC Week on saturday November 17 that companies don’t do nearly enough to collect information about how they run in order to improve the way they operate or earn profits.

Professor Dr Malik Muhammad Mahmud Al-Awan, Chief Academic Officer & Dean of the Faculty of the International Center for Islamic Finance in Malaysia on Sunday 18 November 2007 warned that unless Islamic finance can develop a cadre of qualified specialists with both conventional and ethically oriented Islamic banking knowledge, the industry will remain small in comparison to conventional finance.
