The latest style must-haves from the main brands and catwalks every business executive needs to be wearing

1. Coloured Leather Jackets: For decades, leather jackets have been THE winter trend for men. They can be worn with almost anything: suits, casual wear, or sportswear. This winter, the new leather jacket trend is: Coloured. Oxen red, royal blue, kaki, and beige, are just a few of the coloured options available this season.

2. Striped Suits: A good suit is every man’s must-have item, and the new trend in suits is stripes! Vertical stripes, horizontal stripes, or both, you name it. Stripped suits are the go-to choice for men, at least Harvey Specter in hit TV series “Suits” seems to think so. His on-set wardrobe consists of none other than, you guessed it, striped suits!

3. Monochromatic Looks: Full on white, full on black, or full on denim, take your pick. The solid-hued look is huge this winter season. Seen sporting this look were the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Reynolds, and best-selling artist Pharrell Williams who seems very “happy” with the trend.

4. Men’s Ankle Jeans: Referred to as “turn-ups,” ankle jeans may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are in fashion now more than ever. There’s just something about the folded ends of a pair of jeans. Popularised by iconic actor James Dean, this look is by all mean “timeless.” Diesel and Salsa are known for stylish, diverse turn-ups.

5. Manly jewellery: From Cartier to Yves Saint Laurent, manly jewellery is hot on the trends list this season. Add an ID bracelet to your suit attire and show the laid-back side in you. According to men’s lifestyle magazine GQ, “There’s nothing emasculating about wearing jewellery. In the smartphone era, what is a watch but adornment anyway?”

6. Gym-Wear: When running errands, going for casual weekend lunches, or hitting the gym, many men put on their sweat pants and cap and are set to go. This winter, gym-wear is no longer casual. It’s no longer the quick lunch look. In this era, gym-wear has entered a whole new turf; the fancy gym-wear. Designers like Versace, Gucci, and Givenchy are making full on fancy sportswear inspired by track, hockey, football and many more.

7. Camel Chic: Where’s a better place to wear camel than in the Middle East? Designers like Versace and Prada filled their runways with camel colour this winter season, opting for monochrome camel looks. However, designers like Valentino and Fendi went for a subtler look, using only the coat or scarf in camel colour.

8. The “Not So Square” Checker Print: Known as “hound’s-tooth,” this print is filling up shelves at men’s fashion shops this winter season. Brands like Lanvin have been making everything in this print, from jackets to coats to pants. If you’re not big on the idea of walking around in printed pants, try a subtler piece in the same print, like a scarf.

9. The Designer Scarf: According to Men’s Fashion magazine, men’s scarves became popular in the World Wars, when aviators wore them to decrease their irritation from the weather. Burberry and Louis Vuitton’s printed scarves have been a winter style staple for seasons. For celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, this accessory is a winter must-have.

10. Bomber Jackets: According to GQ magazine, this is what you need to be wearing this winter. The good thing is, they come in so many different colours and materials. Dolce & Gabbana’s winter collection this season is filled with bomber jackets with leather sleeves. They even come in the hound’s-tooth print!

Men’s Fashion magazine said velvet is the new go-to trend of 2015; specifically, men’s velvet suits. Ryan Gosling has even been seen wearing them to his red carpet movie premiers and the Golden Globes. We say, if Gosling went for it, so should you!

13. Horizontally Striped Ties: Because why not? Ties have always been the most experimented with accessory in men’s fashion. Dotted ties, paisley ties, diagonally striped ties. Now its time for horizontally striped ties. So why not give it a go at the office? It’ll add a twist to your formal suit ensemble! Armani has them in winter colours for the season.

14. The Coloured Belt: We are no longer in the “black or brown belt” era. Gucci has made coloured belts from teal to burgundy. Since winter colours are of darker shades, why not try a pop of colour using a coloured belt? Be bold, and try a coloured accessory!

15. The Fancy Tuxedo Jacket: It can be printed, velvet, or embroidered, it just has to be a fancy tuxedo jacket! From Bruno Mars to Chris Brown, a lot of celebrities are sporting this trend this season. You can find dozens of different prints in Dolce & Gabbana’s collection this winter. 16. Boots: Brogue? Viper? Biker? Or Hiker boots? Yes, there are that many types of boots. Men’s Fashion magazine suggests the hiker, “If ever a boot was having its moment in the fashion limelight, it would have to be the hiking boot.” A more evolved, fashionable version of the hiking boot has been storming into trend this season. However, leather boots have become a timeless piece in winter fashion. This winter, they have appeared on the runways of BOSS and Fendi to name a few.

17. Coloured and Mirrored Shades: According to Forbes magazine, mirrored and coloured shades are trending this winter. So if you’re not into coloured belts or printed jackets, try coloured shades instead. After all, you can take them off whenever you want! Ray Bans have colours that range from flashy orange to warm green.

18. The NEW 3-Piece Suit: This winter trend calls for trendsetters to “lose the vest and add a sweater,” according to men’s GQ. Though the winter in this region is not so cold as to wear a sweater under a suit, you could go for one that’s made of a light material as not to get too hot.

19. CPO jackets (chief petty officer): They’re lighter than jackets and coats, but heavier and warmer than flannel shirts. They can be used as a shirt, or a jacket. They’re perfect for the winter weather in the region. These trendy pieces have been gracing the runways of Calvin Klein and Steven Alan.

20. White shoes: Rain doesn’t fall often in the Middle Eastern region, which means there won’t be fragments of mud on your shoes, which means: all the more reason to wear WHITE shoes! Complete a full on white monochrome look with a pair of white loafers. The time for coloured kicks is over, white is all the noise now; runways of Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci seem to agree.
