Communications, construction and property development, and aviation and transportation are the three key fields targeted for Emiratisation, according to a new initiative launched by Nasser bin Thani Al Haml, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
It is hoped that “100 days for Emiratisation in three fields” will deliver high-quality, well-paying jobs in three of the most important economic sectors to the UAE.
According to Al Haml, who was addressing a press conference at Al Bateen Council in Abu Dhabi, those fields contribute more than 28 percent to UAE GDP, and that 300,000 jobs across them can be localised for Emirati nationals.
In order to facilitate this, he added that the ministry is now developing an “Emiratisation Partners Club”, which will offer discounts on fees for renewing work permits. For instance, any company with more than three percent of its workforce staff comprised of Emiratis would be classed as a “platinum member” and be charged AED300 for a work permit instead of AED3,000.
Al Hamli also said that raising fees for ministry services was part of the strategy to increase the rate of Emiratisation in the private sector, and to improve the performance of public employees by 40 per cent by the year 2021.
“The ministry cares about holding meetings with citizens to know their views and to hear their opinions about services the ministry provides for supporting them, and to provide them with suitable job opportunities,” he said.
