Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, has announced the launch of King Salman Gate, a transformative multi-use development in the Holy City of Makkah.

Spanning up to 12 million square metres of Gross Floor Area, the project sits adjacent to AlMasjid AlHaram and represents a major milestone in the ongoing development of Makkah’s central area.

It aims to establish the city as a global benchmark in modern urban planning and enhance the overall experience for residents, pilgrims, and visitors.

King Salman’s Gate in Saudi Arabia

King Salman Gate’s extensive urban and infrastructure transformation is designed to improve access to AlMasjid AlHaram, enhance service quality, and enrich every visitor’s journey, in line with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Pilgrim Experience Program under Vision 2030.

The mixed-use destination will integrate residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural facilities with a capacity for around 900,000 indoor and outdoor praying spaces.

Strategically located next to AlMasjid AlHaram, the development will also prioritise world-class mobility and connectivity, supported by seamless links to public transportation networks.

Blending heritage with modern design

King Salman Gate will honour Makkah’s unique identity, merging traditional architectural heritage with contemporary urban design to create a distinctive, world-class environment.

The project will restore and develop approximately 19,000 square metres of heritage sites, ensuring the preservation of Makkah’s cultural and historical legacy while offering new spaces for community engagement and reflection.

The project is expected to generate more than 300,000 jobs by 2036, supporting Saudi Arabia’s wider economic diversification goals under Vision 2030.

Developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company

King Salman Gate is being developed by RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company.

The developer’s mission is to advance urban development around AlMasjid AlHaram, positioning Makkah as a global benchmark for real estate and hospitality excellence.

RUA AlHaram AlMakki Company also emphasises sustainable resource management, adopting innovative, eco-conscious practices that enhance quality of life for residents, pilgrims, and visitors while preserving Makkah’s cultural fabric.
