Ajman has introduced a comprehensive new Human Resources Law designed to reshape the government employment landscape with family-friendly leave policies, flexible working models, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
The law forms a central part of Ajman’s strategy to enhance the quality of life for government employees and their families, while aligning with the objectives of Ajman Vision 2030 to create a modern, inclusive, and sustainable public sector.
The initiative was approved by the Ajman Executive Council, chaired by Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, during the 2025 UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi.
Comprehensive family leave in Ajman
The new Human Resources Law introduces an extensive set of family-related leave provisions, supporting employees during key life events. These include maternity, paternity, marriage, childcare, and care for first-degree relatives, as well as leave for bereavement, mourning, and supporting people of determination.
It also grants flexible working hours to pregnant employees and parents with five or more children, strengthening family cohesion and promoting a better work-life balance across Ajman’s public sector.
The law embraces modern work models tailored to each government entity’s operational needs.
In addition, it formalises remote work options both within and outside the UAE — a step aimed at boosting productivity, improving job satisfaction, and building a sustainable, digital-first workplace culture.
Inclusion and workplace protection for people of determination
Ajman’s new law advances inclusivity by mandating that all government entities provide accessible facilities, assistive technologies, and adaptive equipment for people of determination.
It also introduces reduced daily working hours for employees with disabilities and prohibits termination of employment due to pre-existing disability conditions at the time of appointment — ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all.
The Human Resources Law underlines the government’s commitment to institutional wellbeing, with measures to enhance psychological health, employee satisfaction, and productivity.
It reflects Ajman’s focus on creating a sustainable, people-first public sector culture that balances innovation with compassion.
By embedding flexibility, inclusivity, and family support at the heart of employment policy, the new HR framework reinforces Ajman’s position as a model of progressive governance within the UAE.
