Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai has taken on an extreme fitness challenge by completing a vertical marathon at the world’s tallest building.
The so-called Burj Khalifa Challenge sees participants run up the steps from the ground floor to the highest reachable point – the 160th floor.
Sharing details of the physical feat with his 15m Instagram followers, posted a video at the start and end of the challenge as well as a selfie taken on the 160th floor.
Showing his fitness data at the end of the challenge Sheikh Hamdan revealed that the challenge was completed in less than 38minutes.
An impressive achievement considering the 160 storeys climbed.
Floor 160 of the Burj Khalifa is not open to the public, with the At The Top observation deck being situated on the 124th floor.
Dubai Fitness Challenge
Last month Sheikh Hamdan joined in as more than 190,000 people took part in the a citywide fitness challenge.
A series of events, including running and cycling tests on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road prompted Sheikh Hamdan to lay down a challenge to the city.
Speaking to local media he set the goal of making the emirate home to the fittest city in the world.
“Together, as a community, the people of Dubai have created an inspirational fitness movement, sending a powerful message that travelled far beyond our city,” said Sheikh Hamdan.
“This event is a demonstration of the Emirate’s spirit of determination and the power of the community to inspire change. Together, let us transform Dubai into the fittest city in the world.”
After completing the Burj Khalifa Challenge he is leading from the front.
Running up the Burj Khalifa is not the only time Sheikh Hamdan has shared his experiences at the world’s tallest building on Instagram.
He has previously shared a video of himself standing at the very top of the tower.
