An Emirates flight to Dubai was cancelled due to a technical issue meaning it was unable to take off.
The Manchester to Dubai flight scheduled to fly on Monday, December 19 at 8.50am was cancelled to protect the safety of passengers and crew.
Passengers were unable to travel and were eventually re-accommodated to travel on Thursday, December 20, almost 20 hours later than scheduled.
Dubai flight technical issue
Media reported that the emergency slide on the Emirates A380 plane inflated while the aircraft was on the ground in Manchester Airport.
A picture on social media showed the inflatable slide deployed alongside the passenger boarding gate.
In a statement to Arabian Business Emirates said: “Emirates flight EK022 from Manchester to Dubai, scheduled to depart on December 19 at 8.50am (Manchester time), has been delayed due to a technical issue”.
“Affected passengers are being provided with assistance, and will be re-accommodated on a replacement aircraft due to depart from Manchester on December 20 at 6am.
“Emirates apologises for the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance.”
