GCC’s Most Admired Executives-Stuart Pearce

Stuart Pearce has been at the helm of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) for nearly five years, and has led the centre’s transformation into a world-class financial centre.

QFC was established by the government of Qatar in 2005 to attract international financial services and multinational corporations to grow and develop the market for financial services in the region. It allows 100 percent ownership by foreign companies, and all profits can be remitted outside of Qatar.

Firms licensed by the QFC can locate anywhere in Doha, and pay local market rents. A British career banker with HSBC, Pearce brings a wealth of experience in international banking and financial services.

Before taking the wheel at QFC, Pearce was the CEO of HSBC Investments, London, and was previously head of HSBC Corporate Banking, London.

He also held a number of international posts, which included CEO and country manager of HSBC Japan, CEO of HSBC Private Banking Europe and Middle East, and group representative with HSBC Scandinavia in Stockholm.
