Network and information security products and solutions vendor SafeNet has appointed LP Global Solutions (LPGS) as a value-added distributor (VAD) for the Middle East. LPGS, which operates as a solutions provider and systems integrator, established its Middle East operation at Dubai Internet City in October 2005.

As part of its VAD role, LPGS will manage channel development, sales and support for SafeNet customers and partners in the Middle East. LPGS reckons that market research studies show a significant opportunity for increased IT security spend in the GCC. LPGS claims that enterprises currently spend just 5% of IT budgets on security and expect this percentage to soar as network and internet security awareness grows.

“SafeNet recognises the value of the Middle East market, which has one of the highest technology adoption rates in the world. Our strategy over the short to medium term is to build a team of seasoned professionals familiar with this region dedicated to developing and supporting our valued channel partners and thereby increasing our market share,” said Gary Clarke, VP EMEA and Pakistan at SafeNet.

“Today’s move demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving the needs of customers in the region and is a testament to the growing demand for services and products which continues to exceed expectations,” he added.

“LP Global Solutions was established by experienced professionals from the United States and the Middle East region to take advantage of high potential emerging markets. We have a strong emphasis on the Middle East and other opportunities within the Asian-African region,” said Jim Turner, President and CEO. “Our growth plans in the region and beyond are aggressive and ambitious, especially in the technology security and telecommunications sectors, that we feel will experience exponential growth over the coming five years.”

“In order to achieve our objectives, we have built a focused team with rich experience in the arena. We have appointed Asad Haque as director marketing and sales to spearhead LPGS strategy and establish LPGS as a best-of-breed company with world-class solutions, services and standards to serve channel and customer needs across the region,” he added.

SafeNet has acquired several information security companies in recent years, including Cylink Corporation, Rainbow Technologies, Chrysalis-ITS, Datakey and Eracom, to flesh out its security portfolio.

LPGS has also struck regional partnerships with vendors such as MCI and Huawei. The company’s service portfolio covers strategy consulting, application management, outsourcing, enterprise portals, e-commerce and consulting.
