Samsung Electronics has launched what it claims is the region’s first slim CRT (cathode ray tube) television. The SlimFit TV is being offered to give buyers a cut-cost alternative to high-resolution, slimline LCD and Plasma sets.
“This HD (High-Definition)-ready TV is, aesthetically, similar to LCD TV or Plasma TVs that are capable of displaying at resolutions of 1080i images, but is priced at less than half of a normal 32-inch LCD TV,” claimed Ashraf Sajid, senior sales and marketing manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics. “It gives 150-mm space benefit, with a depth size of 412mm compared to current colour TVs, which have a depth of 561mm.”
Design wise, the SlimFit TV has been created to fit in living rooms across the region, in that its outer chassis is in dual-tone black and silver, with a black inner bezel to help enhance contrast. It also features slim side speakers.
The TV has a horizontal viewing angle of more than 165 degrees to provide a picture-perfect entertainment experience from anywhere in the room and theatre-quality surround sound thanks to built-in SRS WOW 3D technology.
The SlimFit TV will retail for roughly US $1,226 (AED4,500)
