Western Digital unveils new sync app

Western Digital has announced that new stock of its WD Passport Portable and WD Passport Pocket USB drives are now equipped with WD Sync software, which is designed to simplify the synchronisation of personal files and Microsoft Outlook data.

Western Digital has announced that new stock of its WD Passport Portable and WD Passport Pocket USB drives are now equipped with WD Sync software, which is designed to simplify the synchronisation of personal files and Microsoft Outlook data.

“The addition of sync and encryption software to WD Passport Portable and WD Passport Pocket hard drives further secures and protects users’ data,” stated Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products group.

WD Sync software enables users to access, edit and share Microsoft Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, MP3 files and Outlook e-mails. Wd Sync uses 128-bit encryption and password protection to prevent others from making unauthorised copies of this data.

Owners of WD Passport Portable and WD Passport Pocket models sold previously without the WD Sync software can download the app tool for free at www.wdc.com/passportsoftware. Users will first need to register their drive on the site before being granted access to the software.
