Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) announced on Monday it is to launch a monthly Arabic magazine with National Geographic.
The first edition of Al Arabiya will be available across the Middle East from October 1, the state-owned media company said in a statement.
Content will include National Geographic’s features on geography, archaeology and natural science, as well as photography from across the globe.
According to the statement, more than 20 percent of the magazine’s content will be generated locally, the statement said.
“National Geographic Al Arabiya is a natural extension of our existing partnership with National Geographic,” Edward Borgerding, CEO of ADMC, said.
The magazine will be available in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemen, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria and Sudan.
The new Arabic-language edition will bring the number of local-language editions of National Geographic magazines to 33, the statement said.
The magazine, the official journal of the National Geographic Society, has been published in English since 1888.
