Dubai Police have detained 10 unlicensed street vendors selling food products in public areas as part of their ‘A Conscious Society, Free of Beggars’ Ramadan campaign.
The vendors operated without proper licences and failed to meet health standards, creating potential risks to public health.
Colonel Ahmad Al Adeedi, Deputy Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said the operation forms part of Dubai Police’s commitment to maintaining public safety in partnership with other authorities, according to a statement by the Dubai Police.

“These unauthorised vendors tend to operate near labour accommodation areas, where they attract customers by offering food products under unhygienic conditions,” Colonel Al Adeedi warned.
He called on the public to purchase food only from licensed establishments to ensure product quality and safety.
Major Talib Al Amiri, Head of the Street Vendors Control Section, warned of the health hazards associated with consuming food from unregulated sources.
Such products are often stored and displayed under unsafe conditions, leading to spoilage and potential foodborne illnesses, he stressed, adding that Dubai Police would continue round-the-clock patrols with partner organisations to identify and apprehend violators.
Authorities have urged residents to report illegal street vending through the 901 Call Centre or the ‘Police Eye’ service on the app.
