Scam posts have been circulating through various platforms

A fake SMS has been circulating in Dubai using the trusted name of ‘Emirates Post’ prompting users to click on a link that could potentially lead to an online scam.

According to a screenshot seen by Arabian Business, the SMS comes from a Malaysia number (+60) and reads, “Emirates Post: Due to the loss of address, your package cannot be delivered. Please handle it promptly. You can update the address online and request a new delivery: [unauthorised link] Please send the number 1 to activate the link, update the online address, and request a new delivery again.”

Emirates Post released a scam prevention alert saying “Fraud comes in many forms—from emails, SMS and WhatsApp messages with payment links, to fake employees and websites impersonating our brand.”

The alert went on to detail possible fraud through social media, SMS, WhatsApp and E-commerce websites. The company also noted that all the official email addresses end with @emiratespost.ae or @emiratesposthop.ae.

If the email is received from an address that ends with anything apart from the above-mentioned addresses, it could likely be a scam.

“Fraudsters use fake social media accounts to message you directly. They’ll claim they’re from the Emirates Post management, asking you to pay through a link. When you receive such messages, report them to us and block,” the alert read about social media scams.

The company clarifies that it will never ask a user for payment or send links through private numbers, SMS will only be sent from an Emirates Post registered account.

“Be careful in making transactions on online platforms like Dubizzle. Scammers often pretend as mediators between the buyer and the seller via a fraudulent Emirates Post link, asking for personal and bank details. Please note that Emirates Post will never facilitate payments between users across any website,” the alert detailed about scam through E-commerce websites.
