Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new free parking system for Emirati citizens. Parking is free within 500 metres of the motorist’s place of residence.
UAE citizens can apply for the free ‘Parking Permit for Emirate Citizen‘ via the official RTA platform or website – rta.ae.
The new initiative was announced by RTA via Twitter on Monday.
“You can obtain a permit for paid public parking areas around your place of residence in #Dubai (within 500 meters) free of charge, by submitting an application via the RTA’s website. #YourComfortMatters,” the caption read.
Eligibility
Citizens residing in paid public parking areas are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents
- Copy of the passport or the Emirates ID
- Copy of the ownership of the house/Title Deed or the valid tenancy agreement approved by Ejari
- Copy of the valid ownership of the vehicle/Mulkiya in the name of the owner of the house or the tenant or a first degree relative.
The permit takes five minutes to process after application.
