A massive fire was reported in the early hours of Monday morning at the 8 Boulevard Walk Tower in Downtown Dubai.
Located near the Burj Khalifa, the 35-storey tower was ablaze and was extinguished just before 4am. The building seems to have extensive fire damage on the façade panning through all floors.
Information about occupants of the building is unknown, comments are yet to be released by relevant authorities.
The project was developed by Emaar in 2008.
Previously, Orient Insurance paid an insurance settlement amount of AED1.2 billion ($380 million) to Emaar Properties in damages for a fire that occurred on New Year’s Eve 2015, at the Address Downtown hotel.
A ruling in favour of the contractors came in September by Dubai Courts of Appeal, meaning Orient Insurance lost the civil case filed to recover the money.
The case was filed against leading contractors including Atkins, Arabtec, Belhasa JV, ALEC Engineering and Construction, GAJ and Miraj. The lawsuit was filed for the AED1.24 billion to be repaid with a 9 percent interest starting November 30, 2016.
