Oman has announced its national and religious public holidays for 2026 following the approval of a new policy by the Council of Ministers to publish holiday dates in advance at the start of each Gregorian year.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Labour, the move is intended to improve institutional and administrative planning across both the public and private sectors.

Early publication of holiday dates will allow organisations to better organise daily, quarterly and annual work schedules, while reducing clashes with local and international events.

Under the policy, all national and religious holidays will be announced annually in advance, with the exception of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. These will continue to be confirmed based on official moon-sighting announcements by the relevant authorities.

As part of the new approach, the government has already confirmed Oman’s national and religious holidays for 2026.

National occasions in 2026:

  • Sultan’s Accession Day: Thursday, 15 January
  • National Day: Wednesday and Thursday, 25–26 November

Religious occasions in 2026:

  • Al Isra’ wal Mi’raj: Sunday, 18 January
  • Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year): Thursday, 18 June
  • Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH): Thursday, 27 August

The Ministry of Labour said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on boosting efficiency, improving coordination, and providing greater clarity for employers, employees and event organisers across the Sultanate.
