Set to open its third branch in the UAE in Dubai in September, Brighton College Dubai has announced the appointment of its first faculty members, which form the leadership team.

The newly appointed faculty includes Barry Cooper, deputy head of academic, Clare Leask, head of early years, Joe Donaghey, head of lower school, and Katy Cooke as head of year one and two.

These join Marco Longmore, head master, and Sarah Brannon, head of prep school who have been in Dubai since September 2017 and January 2018 respectively.

Brighton College Dubai will be located in Al Barsha South on a 40,000 sq m campus, designed by Brighton College and their local partners, Bloom Education.

Facilities include an auditorium; a black box performance space, a 25m swimming pool, IAAF-standard running track and a creative learning centre.

Longmore said: “I am delighted to welcome Barry Cooper, Clare Leask, Joe Donaghey and Katy Cooke to form Brighton College Dubai’s leadership team which will build the foundations of a world class faculty ahead of the school’s opening in September.

"At Brighton College Dubai we are committed to providing an authentic British independent education, within a framework of tradition, and I am confident that our team of experts will bring on board a deep understanding of our core values and ethos.”

After three years as housemaster of The Wellesley and head of history at Wellington College Shanghai, and following a successful career at British boarding schools including Loretto and Epsom College, Cooper joins Brighton College Dubai as deputy head academic.

An expert in early years education, Clare Leask joins Brighton College Dubai after being an integral member of the start-up team at Brighton College Bangkok.

Joe Donaghey joins Brighton College Dubai as assistant head (lower school) after his role as senior leader in a KHDA outstanding rated school while Katy Cooke joins Brighton College Dubai after five years as head of reception at Dulwich Prep School in London and two years at NGO Jay Pritzker Academy in Cambodia.
