Video: Six ways to assess and improve your product’s eco-footprint

What’s good for the planet can also be good for your company, your clients, and you!

With the growing focus on addressing the ill effects of climate change – which range from the terrible toll on human life, on the economy, and on food and water security – the need to consider the environmental footprint of firms and products has grown, experts told Arabian Business.

“Nowadays, many companies feel a sense of responsibility to their societies which has led them to strive towards goals that include lowering their carbon emissions. This comes as no surprise given the rising trend of shifting towards a net-zero future,” said Ashraf Yehia, the managing director of Eaton Middle East.

The environmental footprint of products is usually defined as the number of natural resources they consume, as well as the emissions they produce: the fewer resources used and the fewer emissions generated during a product’s lifecycle, the smaller its footprint.

“We consider as resources things like materials, water and power, as well as emissions like greenhouse gases, wastewater and soil contaminants that are consumed or created during each product’s manufacturing, operation, or end-of-life,” Yehia added.
