In pictures: Mondelez International launch its newest "Factory of the Future" in Bahrain
The company invested $90 million in the state-of-the-art biscuit manufacturing plant that produces iconic Power Brands, including Oreo cookies and Barni soft cakes, for local consumers and serves as a hub for exports to the Gulf region, the Levant and Africa, reducing delivery costs and improving product freshness
The inauguration ceremony of the new plant in Bahrain was held in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, H.E. Zayed R. Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism; Daniel Myers, Executive Vice President, Integrated Supply Chain, Mondelēz International; and Maurizio Brusadelli, EVP & President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Mondelēz International. Mondelez opened its second factory in Bahrain, the US $90 Million Dollar Mondelez Bahrain Biscuits factory is located at the Bahrain International Investment Park. The plant, with an annual capacity of 90,000 tonnes, is located on a 250,000sqm plot – the equivalent of 30 football pitches. Mondelez Bahrain Biscuits factory peak production will require employment of more than 300 people, in addition to indirect employment to thousands with jobs in the local economy through suppliers and business partners. Mondelez Bahrain Biscuits factory currently produce Oreo cookies, Barni cakes and will add Ritz Crackers, belVita, Prince and TUC biscuits to its product list at a later stage. 97% of Mondelez International’s manufactured products in Bahrain are exported to 12 markets around the world.
