Travelers arriving in or transiting through Dubai from the UK have to present a negative PCR test obtained within 48 hours of flight departure, according to Emirates airline’s website.
Previously, arrivals in Dubai from the UK had to present a negative test taken within 72 hours. The news comes hours after Abu Dhabi removed the UK from its Covid-19 green list that allows for quarantine-free travel into the emirate.
The tighter restrictions come as Covid-19 cases are on the rise globally from the new omicron variant.
On Sunday, the UAE’s daily case count was around 2,600 confirmed cases, and the country has reinstated some movement restrictions to slow the spread of the virus. The UK has also moved to reimpose some restrictions as case counts at home climb.
