Bahrain tech group Beyon has submitted the comprehensive $1.5bn Master Plan for Digital City Bahrain to the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), marking a pivotal milestone in the development of the Kingdom’s flagship technology and innovation hub.
Beyon announced the project on the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2025 in the presence of Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Beyon Group, and senior officials from both entities.
Located at Beyon’s headquarters in Hamala, Digital City Bahrain will establish a cutting-edge ecosystem for technology, research and digital enterprise — positioning Bahrain as a regional hub for innovation, investment and sustainable urban development.
$1.5bn masterplan
The $1.5bn masterplan covers the full design scope of Digital City Bahrain, integrating commercial, educational and research spaces with lifestyle components including retail, hotels, healthcare and residential apartments.
The development will also feature approximately 70,000sq m of landscaped open spaces, integrated mobility solutions, and advanced urban infrastructure, reflecting a next-generation approach to connected city design.

National Urban Development Strategy
Eng. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayat, CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, said the Digital City Bahrain master plan represents a strategic milestone aligned with Bahrain’s National Urban Development Strategy.
He added that the collaboration between the Authority, Beyon and its partners ensures seamless integration with Bahrain’s national infrastructure framework, supporting sustainable urban growth and creating long-term value for both the community and the business sector.
Bahrain’s digital transformation
The submission marks the start of the Authority’s formal review process, paving the way for detailed design standards and enabling works in subsequent phases.
