Michael Jackson would have been secretly flown out of the US to Bahrain if he had been found guilty of child molestation in 2005, his brother was quoted as saying on Saturday.

Jermaine Jackson said in an interview with The Times magazine that his family had secretly arranged to fly Michael to the Gulf state.

He was quoted by the magazine as saying that a private jet financed by a friend was on standby to whisk his late brother to the Gulf emirate if the 2005 court case ended with a conviction.

Bahrain does not have an extradition treaty with the US, news agency Press Association reported.

Jermaine said his brother did not know about the escape plan but added that Michael would have “done it in a heartbeat”.

In the end, the pop icon was found not guilty on all charges.

He later spent a year in the emirate as a guest of a son of Bahrain’s king.
