Oman‘s Ministry of Labour plans to open 35,000 job opportunities in 2023, according to a report by the Oman Observer.
Of the total number of job opportunities, 14,000 jobs will be “provided via replacement” in the private sector and 10,000 jobs through “replacement and employment” in the public sector, the report said.

This is in addition to 2,000 job opportunities created through initiatives by government authorities and units, Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour said at the annual news conference of the Ministry of Labour, which was held on Tuesday.
In 2022, the number of job opportunities created totaled to 45,026 from direct employment, replacement and work-base training.
About 13,452 employees were availed of the job security system in various governorates, the Baowain said.
57,092 Omani nationals landed jobs, including 35,377 people “previously employed by means of job rotation,” the minister added.
According to the report, “the ministry plans to develop human capital and enhance its capabilities in the units of the state’s administrative apparatus. Besides, the ministry is working on an integrated national system that aims to build national capabilities and manage talents, the minister said.”
There will also be a number of programmes and plans this year, which includes the implementation of “the national workforce employment strategy that falls under the national employment policy, promoting and developing labour market policies and the job localisation mechanism,” the report said.
