In an apparent move to woo more World Cup tourists, Saudi Arabia launched a new digital driving authorisation service for visitors to the country.
The new platform – Absher Business – launched by the General Directorate of Public Security, under the country’s traffic department, allows car rental companies to authorise visitors to the country to drive vehicles through the border number, SPA reported.
The new service will save time and efforts for visitors, as they do not need to visit the concerned offices of the Saudi ministry of interior for such authorisation.
Instead, car rental companies can now provide them with automated services.
The new online service will be a boon for tourists and fans coming for the Qatar World Cup and intend to drive to Saudi Arabia for short visits.
The new service is an extension of the ministry of interior’s endeavors to enable digital transformation, provide electronic services and digital solutions to citizens, residents and visitors, and process their requests easily in order to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
