Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal has made Lionel Messi a “monster offer,” according to a report by Saudi Gazette. Details and valuation of the offer have not been disclosed yet.

Messi, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, will include “all the advantages set for the player, and meets the demands of the best FIFA men’s player of the year 2022 and captain of Argentina, the 2022 Qatar World Cup Champions,” the report said.

The “bumper offer,” if accepted by Messi will also be a major boost for the kingdom as it would then have two football superstars playing in their professional league tournaments, the report said.

Messi’s contract with the French club will expire at the end of the current season. While the end of his contract nears, a final agreement is yet to be reached, the report said, adding that “renewal talks are progressing.”

However, it is also rumored that Messi could consider a free transfer to a Middle Eastern club, as his father and business agent, Jorge Horacio Messi, has been seen in Riyadh, leading to speculation about negotiations for a potential move.

If Messi does choose to move to Saudi Arabia, he would be in direct competition with his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr, another club in Riyadh, last December. It remains to be seen what Messi will ultimately decide to do, the report said.

Messi has had previous experience with Saudi Arabia as a tourism ambassador, having traveled to the country for promotional activities on several occasions. The country’s Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, has welcomed Messi and his family to enjoy the tourist destinations, experiences, and hospitality that Saudi Arabia has to offer during his next visit, the report added.
