Cinemas in Saudi Arabia have collected more than SR3bn ($800m) in ticket sales since they opened, according to the General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM).
In total there have been 51m tickets sold and the sector is growing.
In a post on social media, GCAM revealed that Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick is the highest-grossing film in the country’s history.
Saudi box office
More than 1.2m tickets were sold for the Hollywood action movie, with a final box office record of SR84m ($22.3m).
The report also revealed that there are now more than 620 cinema screens in over 20 cities in the Kingdom.
