Saudia inaugurated a new flight service to Zurich on Wednesday, its first direct connection to the Swizz capital.
The flight service has been launched under the Kingdom’s ‘Air Connectivity Program’ initiative which aims to connect the country with the world.
The inaugural Saudia flight departed King Khalid International Airport in the presence of Swizz ambassador to Saudi Arabia and high level officials from Air Connectivity Program and Saudia, was received with a water salute in Zurich International Airport.
Arved Nikolaus Von Zur Muhlen, chief commercial officer of Saudia, said the new flight service would help the airline to effectively utilize its fleet of 150 premium aircraft to ferry travellers to and from the Kingdom.
Sultan Otaify, vice president – strategy and communications at the Air Connectivity Program, said this type of local partnerships was a foundation stone for a series of future partnerships that aim to support and stimulate the aviation sector, establish new air routes and enhance the frequency of flights.
“This will contribute to the development of tourism in the Kingdom,” he said.
