What is NEOM? It is a question being asked around he world and Saudi Arabia’s $500bn mega-project is answering the question in a new video shared online.
The video shares stunning artist’s impressions of upcoming developments such as The Line, Trojena and Oxagon.
Explaining the history behind the name, plans for NEOM projects and plans for the future, the new video also shows construction in progress at the Saudi Arabia mega-project.
NEOM in Saudi Arabia
The video update begins with an explanation of the project’s location and name.
A narrator says: “What is NEOM? This is NEOM, or to be more precise in the northwest of Saudi Arabia. But NEOM is more than a place, it’s a home for people who dream big.
“It will be a hub for innovation, an entirely new model for sustainable living, the vision for a new future. In fact, that’s how it got its name.
The video goes on to show Inside looks at the NEOM development so far and explain the concept of key projects within Saudi Arabia such as The Line, Oxagon, Trojena and Sindalah.
The video explains: “But what will be there? There’s Oxagon, a thriving city at the centre of the world, where advanced manufacturing will enable industries of the future.
“Trojena, a year-round mountain destination – just remember to pack your skis when you visit. If skiing is not your thing, there’s always Sindalah, one of Neom’s many beautiful islands. perfect for some R and R.

“And The Line, a 500m high, 200m wide, 170km-long city in the shape of, well, a line. No roads, cars or emissions. And everything its 9m residents could ever need within a five-minute walk.
“Best of all the entire region will offer unparalleled access to nature and will be powered by clean energy.
“All within easy reach of the rest of the world.”
In addition to showing off the projects, the new video goes on to explain the concept behind the ambitious project.
The need for economic and environmental sustainability are emphasised in the video.
“I know what you’re thinking – why does the world need NEOM?,” asks the narrator.
“The world needs NEOM because the world needs change. That’s what we mean when we say ‘Made to change’.

“NEOM represents a global opportunity for, one, changing how the world does business. By making the region a special economic zone, easing the way for entrepreneurs to blaze their trail.
“Two, by changing the way we live our lives. With preventative health care and the highest standards of livability, sounds nice right?
“Three, changing how we look after nature in our planet, because without this what use are one and two?
The development will be divided into 14 sectors. The sectors are listed as:
