Budget airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will soon operate a new route from Abu Dhabi to Medina, Saudi Arabia, priced at AED179. The route will begin operations in February 2023.
Tickets are already on sale on the Wizz Air website and the airline’s mobile app, with fares starting from AED179, one-way.
“We are excited to announce daily flights to the historical city of Medina, a must-see travel destination steeped in religious history, with countless exciting attractions,” Wizz Air managing director Michael Berlouis said.
“This new route demonstrates our commitment to supporting the booming tourism sector in both the UAE and the kingdom with our ultra-low fares further strengthening connectivity. Our Wizz team is looking forward to welcoming you onboard our modern, young and sustainable aircraft soon,” Berlouis added.

Wizz Air’s expansion is a sign of confidence in Vision 2030 and ‘destination Saudi’ and builds on the existing routes network, the airline said in a statement.
“This move demonstrates Tibah Airport Operation Company’s commitment and strategy to expand travel options, strengthen global connectivity for Madinah Airport, one of the kingdom’s main gateways, and provide convenient and affordable travel alternatives for our customers,” Tibah Airports Operations Company’s managing director Eng. Sofiene Abdesssalem said.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi provides current operates to Alexandria (Egypt), Amman (Jordan), Aqaba (Jordan), Athens (Greece), Baku (Azerbaijan), Belgrade (Serbia), Kutaisi (Georgia), Manama (Bahrain), Muscat (Oman), Salalah (Oman), Santorini (Greece), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Sohag (Egypt), Tel-Aviv (Israel), Tirana (Albania) and Yerevan (Armenia) among others.
The airline also has a fleet composed of eight brand new Airbus A321neo aircrafts, offering the lowest fuel burn, emissions, and noise footprint.
