Two people have been arrested in relation to the death of a Saudi student in the US, whose body was found near a highway last Thursday, a month after he disappeared.
Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi disappeared from his home in Los Angeles on September 17. He had recently sold his car, which KCBS-TV reported was an Audi worth about $52,000, on Craigslist.com, but police had already said they did not believe the buyer was connected to his death.
The Los Angeles Times said Alkadi’s deactivated mobile phone had been traced to the city of Beaumont, about 129km east of Los Angeles.
The 23-year-old had moved to California in 2010 to study electrical engineering at Cal State University, Northridge, his brother Ahmed, 32, has said.
Shortly before his disappearance, Alkadi had Tweeted: “God make me happier, for I have suffered. Give me rest and don’t disappoint me, for you are my Lord”.
US police were expected to release more details of the suspects at a press conference this week.
