Global music streaming service Deezer and Dubai’s Emirates airline have signed an agreement to give passengers access to over 20 exclusive playlists while in the air, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Deezer playlists became available the same day on Emirates’ ‘ice’ inflight entertainment system.
In a statement, Deezer said that the playlists have been selected to “appeal to a wide range of tastes and features an exciting mix of international artists.”
“It’s great to work closely with Emirates, one of, if not the best airline in the world, to take our expertly-curated playlists to the skies,” said Tarek Mounir, Deezer’s CEO for the MENA region and Turkey. “Music has the power to transport us and our curated music selection aims to get listeners to feel the thrill of discovery that comes from visiting a new destination and new experiences.”
“We’ve also added a few familiar favorites to the mix to create the perfect soundtrack for every journey, wherever listeners’ adventures may take them,” he added.
Deezer launched in the MENA region in October 2018 after signing a long-term digital distribution agreement with Rotana, the region’s largest record label.
The streaming service is currently available in 22 countries in the region, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Globally, it is available in 180 countries.
