AD Ports Group has completed its largest-ever corporate restructuring, integrating the assets of the recently acquired Noatum Group into its business structure.
Noatum Group, a Barcelona-based provider of global logistics services with operations in 32 countries and 16 terminals in Spain, was acquired by AD Ports Group in 2023 for AED 2.65 billion ($720 million).
Under the restructured framework:
- Noatum’s Corporate Head Office: Integrated into AD Ports Group’s existing and new business verticals.
- Noatum Maritime: The Maritime unit of Noatum Group has been fully integrated into SAFEEN Group, which has been renamed as Noatum Maritime.
- Noatum Ports: The former Noatum Terminals unit has become a component of Noatum Ports, a newly established entity managing current and future international port operations of AD Ports Group.
- Noatum Logistics: This segment had already assumed responsibility for AD Ports Group’s Logistics Cluster operations in July 2023.
Through this restructuring, the Group now operates 33 terminals across more than 50 countries. The integration has enhanced operational efficiencies and enabled the Group to expand its international reach.
Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, said: “The successful integration of Noatum’s assets marks a major milestone in the corporate development of AD Ports Group, which has evolved under the wise vision of our leadership into a premier global provider of trade, transport, and logistics services. The addition of Noatum’s international brand equity, global networks, customer relationships, and assets has not only strengthened and broadened the economic horizons of our Group, but it has positioned AD Ports Group for its next stage of growth.’’
The acquisition of Noatum and other strategic investments, including Dubai-based Global Feeder Shipping (GFS) and ventures in Egypt, Central Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, have propelled AD Ports Group into the ranks of the world’s top 20 container port operators for the first time, according to a survey by Drewry International.
“We are now entering our next phase of delivering AD Ports Group’s strategy and enabling streamlined execution of our ambitious plans. By fully leveraging the new additions to our Group, we will unlock the full potential of these mergers and acquisitions through synergies that solidify our competitive edge and ensure our continued leadership in existing and new global markets,” Al Shamisi added.
