Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has denied reports that it will increase the price of petrol at its service stations in September.
An unnamed official from the state-run company told Reuters on Monday that the company planned to raise gasoline prices for the third time this year.
However, the company said this was “completely false” in a statement on Tuesday, reported by the official news agency WAM.
“Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC Distribution) has denied reports published in local newspapers regarding a new increase in gasoline prices assuring that no official of the company has spoken on the issue,” the statement said.
The firm added that it was “essential to investigate the accuracy of information and take the news from the correct source before publishing.”
So far, there have been two incremental increases in the price of petrol. The third rise was reported to take place after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The UAE is now the most expensive country in the GCC to buy fuel following its latest 20 fils per litre rise, which came into effect in July.
