Australian Open champions and world No.1s set to wow the fans in Dubai

Djokovic and Sabalenka, winners in Melbourne last week, are both confirmed for Dubai Duty Free Tennis; women’s world No.1 Swiatek joins them

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships Australian Open

Official entry lists for both men’s and women’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships later this month have now been confirmed. The quality field includes Novak Djokovic, the new world No.1 and winner of the Australian Open, as well as women’s No.1 Iga Swiatek.

Joining the top-ranked female player in the world is Aryna Sabalenka, who won her maiden Grand Slam title a day before Djokovic in Melbourne.

The women’s event has 19 of the top 20 players confirmed to compete at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium from February 19-25. The field features all four reigning Grand Slam champions. Sabalenka is the Australian Open winner, while Swiatek is the reigning US and French Open champion. Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina is also in the field.

Arab icon Ons Jabeur, of Morocco, a two-time Grand Slam finalist in 2022, and Coco Gauff, the 2022 French Open finalist are also entered.

In the ATP Tour 500 event which will be played in the following week, 22-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic will be joined by defending Dubai champions and world No.5 Andrey Rublev, Canada’s world No.7 Felix Auger-Aliassime and 2021 US Open winner Daniil Medvedev.

Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, said: “Less than a week ago, Novak and Aryna were making history at the Australian Open, so it is fantastic to be able to confirm that tennis fans here in Dubai will get the chance to watch both inside the stadium.

“The strength of the official entry lists this year speak for themselves, to confirm all 10 of the world’s top 10 women is rare for a tournament outside the Grand Slams and a great demonstration of the popularity of our WTA event.”

Tickets are on sale for the championship on the tournament website, starting from AED55. They will also be available at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium Box Office from February 9.
