Delivery service provider Deliveroo has started a new initiative to help keep riders hydrated during the hot summer months.
In collaboration with drink company Humantra, Deliveroo is operating mobile hydration stations across major areas in Dubai.
The stations, branded with both Deliveroo and Humantra logos, will make stops at locations such as Hessa Street, Mirdif City Centre and City Walk.
Riders are invited to visit the stations to replenish fluids with Humantra’s rose-flavoured electrolyte sachets and bottles of cold water.
“At Deliveroo we value our agency riders and the indispensable role they play in our ecosystem. By introducing the Hydration Station in collaboration with Humantra, we aim to fortify our ongoing summer initiatives which include rest areas at Roo Buses, Editions sites, and HOP sites, as well as investments in our rider kits, and the organisation of seasonal rider events. Through our summer initiatives, we aim to ensure riders feel supported, hydrated, energised, and recognised as they navigate the streets this season,” Yazan Aburaqabeh, Director of Operations at Deliveroo Middle East said.
The food delivery service provider is continuing its summer rider welfare scheme, including offering cooled rest areas aboard Roo Buses, deployed across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ajman, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah.
These air-conditioned vehicles and smaller coasters will provide shaded spaces for breaks. Delivery locations and Deliveroo sites will also function as cooling zones.
The company plans to distribute water, juices and additional reusable bottles to riders from June onwards.
Restaurants are being encouraged to supply water to riders and customers may offer it upon delivery.
Moreover, the platform will equip riders with cooling vests, towels and windshield visors on bikes.
Indoor sporting events will be organised for riders throughout summer by Deliveroo’s operations team.
