Dodo Pizza, part of the multinational food service group Dodo Brands, announced it would offer free Iftar meals to delivery riders in Dubai who fast during the holy month.

Throughout Ramadan, any driver picking up the order at Dodo Pizza Dubai Marina from 6 PM to 9 PM can get an Iftar box, the company said in a media statement.

Created as a meal to break the fast even on the go, each box will include a portion of dates, chicken wrap, and a bottle of water.

The offer is expected to ease working conditions of delivery riders in the city, who work hard during fasting hours due to the trend of drastic increase in demand for food and grocery delivery during Ramadan.

The period also is also estimated to witness a 52 percent jump in fast food orders, compared to other periods.

Dodo Pizza said it will provide free Iftar meals to both its in-house couriers and those who work with external aggregators.

“This initiative was primarily born because many riders leave families in their home countries to work in Dubai. By offering Iftar meals, we also provide a sense of inclusion and solidarity, as delivery drivers can share an Iftar moment with colleagues and our pizza store team,” Said Walid Iakhia, General Manager of Dodo Pizza Dubai.

The distribution of free Iftar meals will last until the end of the holy month.

To address the increasing amount of food and packaging waste in the UAE during Ramadan, Dodo Pizza also offers delivery in reusable pizza boxes.
