Dubai Courts clarified the general requirements that must be met by any individual who intends to become a legal guardian in the UAE.
The requirements are in place according to the UAE’s personal status law. The Courts issued the clarification on Wednesday via social media.
Key requirements with reference to Dubai Courts
- Must have sound judgement
- Must have attained the age of maturity
- Must possess fidelity
- Must have the ability to raise and care for the fostered child
- Must be free from contagious diseases
- Must not have been previously condemned for crimes again honour
Earlier this week, the Courts launched its first inheritance department for non-Muslims.
The new department will enable the preparation and execution of wills under a standard legislative framework for non-Muslims with the application of their own laws.
