Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), as part of the AED689 million Hessa Street Improvement Project which aims to ease traffic for commuters has announced details of the street redevelopment.
Four main intersections are set to be revamped as part of this initiative.
1. Hessa Street intersection with Sheikh Zayed Road
A two-lane directional ramp will pass over the route of the Dubai Metro Red Line to ease rightward headed traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Hessa Street, towards Emirates Road.
2. Hessa Street intersection with First Al Khail Street
More lanes will be added to the existing bridge, lane numbers will now be increased from three to four each way towards the signalised junction.
3. Hessa Street intersection with Al Asayel Street
The current two-lane way will be increased to a four-lane street in both directions.
4. Hessa Street intersection with Al Khail Road
A two lane directional ramp will be constructed to serve northward traffic to Al Khail Road in the direction of Sharjah.
The move is in line with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The RTA had previously revealed new plans to develop key roads such as Hessa street and Umm Suqeim street.
