Dubai Police issue safety warning for boat owners, beachgoers

Dubai Police has issued a safety warning to owners of boats, ships, yachts and the general public to remain cautious and refrain from going to areas near the sea due to weather fluctuations.

The notice read, “The warning aims to ensure public safety and prevent endangered lives due to the sea currents and high waves.”

Boat owners are urged to check weather forecasts and sea conditions before making journeys. Colonel Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, director of the Ports Police Station said, “We strongly advise boat owners to avoid going out to sea during periods of adverse weather and high waves.”

Dubai Police continues to closely monitor weather conditions and are working with emergency services to ensure timely responses in case of any incidents.

The force has also identified nine points where rescue forces comprising of divers and rescue boats are based to ensure safety across the waters.

The public is reminded to call 999 in case of emergencies and download the Sail Safely app which warns users about delays, identify hazards and send distress signals to facilitate a rapid emergency response.

Beachgoers are also urged to adhere to safety warnings and comply with advisories related to maritime currents. Swimming or entering the water is prohibited while the red flag is displayed on the beach.
