Dubai Police’s First Lieutenant Amna

Dubai Police’s First Lieutenant Amna was all the rage at this year’s GITEX Global Technology Exhibition 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Bilingual Amna answered the many questions visitors had, in Arabic and English, related to Dubai Police, but here is the thing – Amna is a virtual officer.

“Amna is available on the Dubai Police website and addresses public inquiries about police services, such as paying traffic fines or reporting incidents, among other services,” said Khadija Flamurzi from the General Department of Artificial Intelligence.

Flamurzi said Officer Amna operates as a software based on executing user transactions via voice commands, using artificial intelligence technologies.

“This feature was realised through the collaborative efforts of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence and other departments aiming to transition all their public services to voice-command interfaces,” she added.

Launched in 2018, Amna is a service by Dubai Police to assist members of the public using voice commands to complete transactions.

Some of the services on offer include a Police Clearance Certificate (Good Conduct Certificate), Traffic Status Certificate, and Traffic Clearance Certificate Details.

It also can assist customers to pay traffic tickets, get traffic alerts, report suspicious behaviour via ‘Police Eye’, request status updates, and advise on home security.
