The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has opened two walkways in the capital – one in Al Shamkha City and the other in Al Shawamekh City – as part of its commitment to provide community sporting facilities of international standards.
The Al Shamkha walkway covers a running area of 8713.62 square meters, with a linear stretch of 4356.81 meters of running track. The Al Shawamekh walkway is built in an area of 3789 square meters, with a 1894.5 linear meter running track.
The two walkways were facilitated by the Al Wathba Municipality Centre.
Keeping the comfort of users in mind, the Al Shamkha walkway has been outfitted with 13 umbrellas to provide shade, along with 16 seats placed along the pathway. It has also been outfitted with a range of sports apparatus – totalling 18 devices.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has installed 42 lighting poles as well as umbrella lighting, and also rubber flooring on 465.08 square meters area of the walkway.
The Al Shawamekh facility has seven umbrellas, eight sports equipment, nine seats and 18 lighting fixtures alongside the walkway. The area covered by rubber flooring in Al Shawamekh is 230.04 square meters.
