RAK Leisure and Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry have announced the opening of the region’s longest toboggan ride.
Jais Sledder, located at the top of the UAE’s tallest peak, aims to add to the emirate’s reputation as the epicentre of adventure in the region.
Sitting on a low-slung track, Jais Sledder reaches speeds of up to 40km per hour as you descend the Hajar mountains.
The ride takes around eight minutes to cover 1,885 metres of hairpin curves and undulating whirls.
The sleds are designed to seat two people comfortably, one in front and the other in the back.
Alison Grinnell, CEO of RAK Hospitality Holding, said: “We are delighted to bring yet another unique attraction to Jebel Jais’ collection of iconic experiences, giving visitors even more options to experience the UAE’s highest peak.
“As we continue to enhance the mountain, while still sustaining and maintaining the environment, we hope to further cement our position as the adventure hub of the region and provide a variety of exceptional attractions and experiences for everyone to enjoy.”
Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, added: “It has been an incredibly busy time as the emirate continues to develop and build on its reputation not only the adventure capital of the Middle East but also as a family focused destination.”

He said Jais Sledder forms part of a AED500 million investment announced in 2021, in partnership with RAK Leisure and RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is the first of 20 planned projects throughout the emirate.
“We are thrilled to be opening this new one-of-a-kind attraction to offer visitors even more options to discover and explore our emirate.”
Other activities include the Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline, Jais Sky Tour, the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp and the highest restaurant in the UAE, 1484 by Puro.
Jais Sledder tickets start from AED40 for one adult ride and AED60 for one adult and child ride.
