The Riyadh Metro will complete its phased rollout on Sunday, January 5, as the Orange Line begins operations, making all six lines of the network operational, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced.
Line 3 (Orange Line) spans 41 km along Madinah Road, connecting east and west Riyadh from Jeddah Road to the second eastern ring road near Khashm Al-Aan area.
This completion follows the project’s inauguration by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on November 27, 2024, the announcement said.
Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Metro network achieves full operations
The RCRC confirmed that Orange Line passengers will be received from 6:00 am at five stations: Jeddah Road, Tuwaiq, Douh, Harun Al-Rashid Road, and Al-Naseem – which connects with the Purple Line.
Three stations on the Blue Line linking Olaya Street to Batha will also begin operations: Al-Morooj, Bank Al-Bilad, and King Fahd Library.
The network’s rollout began on December 1 with the Blue, Yellow, and Purple Lines, followed by the Red and Green Lines on December 15.
The Riyadh Metro, which operates from 6:00 am until midnight, comprises six lines covering 176 kilometres with 85 stations, including four main stations, making it the Middle East’s largest metro and the world’s longest driverless train system.
Passengers can purchase tickets through the Darb application, station ticket offices, self-service machines, or digital payment methods including bank cards and smart devices.
