Saudi Arabia’s Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal has addressed climate change, calling for a balanced approach that aligns environmental goals with economic growth.

Speaking at the AIM Summit in Dubai, he examined the energy transition topic, focusing on its implications in the context of the upcoming US election.

In a statement, Prince Khaled, who is the founder and CEO of KBW Ventures, said that a “reversal of legislation is unlikely to happen,” alluding to the Biden administration’s executive order on advancing biotechnology and biomanufacturing in September 2022.

The panel titled ‘The Impact of US Elections on Energy Transition’, was moderated by Rami Kiwan, an economist at the UAE Ministry of Economy.

During the discussion, Kiwan mentioned Alwaleed Philanthropies’ commitment to Breakthrough Energy Ventures, an impact fund founded by Bill Gates, and noted the role of Prince Khaled’s father, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, in the initiative.

Prince Khaled also commented on the need for “philanthropy and impact investing” to support progress on climate change.

The AIM Summit was launched by UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and included speakers such as Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and UAE Special Envoy for Business & Philanthropy, former US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
