The UAE National Disaster and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) announced its readiness to deal with the forecasted tropical cyclone, through a meeting of the Joint Assessment Team in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, National Center of Meteorology and Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
The meeting discussed the assessment of conditions of the tropical cyclone, readiness of business continuity plans and taking preemptive measures.
The authorities said that they aim to ensure the safety of the community and protection of lives and property.
The NCEMA announced its preparedness along with other authorities via Twitter on Thursday.
“Towards a joint national readiness, with the aim of protecting lives and property, #NCEMA confirms its preparedness to deal with the tropical cyclone through a meeting of the Joint Assessment Team, in collaboration with @moiuae, @modgovae, @NCMUAE and @MOEIUAE” the post read.
Earlier this week, Arabian Business reported on the forecast by weather authorities following reports of a category 1 cyclone forming in the Arabian Sea.
The National Centre of Meteorology confirmed that the UAE will not be affected by the possible tropical condition that would form in the south of the Arabian Sea at the end of next week.
