The UAE is set for a wet start to March, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issuing warnings of rain and strong winds that could reach speeds of up to 40kph.
The NCM has forecasted decreasing temperatures for the next few days, with a maximum temperature of 36ºC and a low of 12ºC on Monday.
The NCM has also predicted a chance of rain every day until Friday, with fog expected to sweep through parts of the country on Friday and Saturday morning. Humidity rates are also expected to rise by the weekend.
There is a likelihood of moderate rainfall, and the skies are expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times over the northern, eastern, coastal areas and islands.
The NCM has issued yellow weather alerts, warning about the formation of convective clouds.
The maximum temperature in the country is expected to range between 31-36°C, whereas the lowest temperature is expected to range between 12-16°C.
Residents are advised to be cautious of blowing dust and sand due to light to moderate winds at times.
In the Arabian Gulf, the sea will have small to moderate waves intermittently, while in the Oman Sea, the waves will be generally small.
“The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning is 15°C in Raknah (Al Ain) at 06:30 and in Jais Mountain (Ras Al Khaimah) at 05:30 UAE Local time,” the NCM said via Twitter.
As relative humidity is expected to increase by night and Wednesday morning, especially over coastal and internal areas, mist formation is also anticipated.
This year, the UAE has experienced mixed weather conditions, with bouts of rain followed by soaring temperatures.
In January, large parts of the country were lashed by heavy rain, causing authorities in Ras Al Khaimah to temporarily switch to remote learning for students at government schools.
Earlier this month, dust storm warnings were issued as wind speeds exceeded 40kmph, leading to the temporary closure of parks in Sharjah’s Kalba City Municipality.
