Drone and aerial imagery company DJI has announced a new partnership with Dubai Police that will see the force deploy and test DJI drones as a tool to aid officers, it was announced on Sunday.
The agreement – the first of its kind with a police force in the UAE – will provide Dubai Police with access to new drone technologies, training and support.
“We are pleased to partner with Dubai Police to help them take advantage of DJI’s industry leading drone technology,” said Romeo Durscher, director of public safety integration at DJI.
“This partnership gives Dubai Police access to DJI’s newest drone technology and fosters the exchange of experiences and knowledge that will help DJI continue to develop its portfolio for public safety agencies around the world and help them gain more value from the life-saving potential of drone technology,” he added.
As part of the agreement, Dubai Police will have access to DJI’s line-up of hardware and software products, including drones, flight simulators, and mission planning and fleet management technology.
Additionally, Dubai Police will have access to the DJI AeroScope, a drone detection platform that can help with the identification of unauthorised drone activity.
“This partnership is set to boost cooperation, exchange experiences, share information and knowledge between both sides in the field of unmanned aerial systems,” said Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander in chief of Dubai Police. “It reflects the keenness of Dubai Police to bring drones into the different police sectors, which helps promote safety and security in the city by utilising the latest tools and systems.”
