Dubai has launched a new online platform called ‘Salama’ that enables residents to complete visa renewals within minutes, officials announced on February 24.

The system, managed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai (GDRFA), automatically identifies user details upon login, displays dependents’ visa status and highlights the remaining days until expiration.

Salama cuts visa renewal time

The platform uses artificial intelligence to accelerate the visa renewal process, reducing waiting times and paperwork.

Users can select their preferred renewal duration and have requests processed immediately. The system also offers services including cancellation of dependents’ visas and responses to general visa and residency enquiries.

The platform features an integrated payment system, eliminating the need for residents to navigate multiple digital platforms or visit service centres.

Officials have not yet disclosed when the scheme will become operational or how residents can access the platform.

However, medical screening remains a requirement for visa renewals, but the Salama platform aims to reduce waiting times once examinations are completed.
