A mini tornado swept through a rural area of Ras Al Khaimah, on Tuesday amid the region’s unpredictable weather patterns.
The event was captured on video by Storm Centre was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Emirates: now in the direction of Siji and Kadra, south of Ras Al Khaimah,” the Storm Centre said in its tweet.
Tornadoes, usually referred to as twisters, are characterised by vertically spinning air funnels and typically manifest during stormy conditions.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an orange weather alert for portions of Sharjah and Fujairah, alongside yellow alerts for Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah for the unsettled conditions.
The Centre also provided updates through its social media channels, noting heavy rain in some areas of Fujairah and Sharjah.
This incident is not the first of its kind in the region; last September, a similar mini tornado was caught on camera in rural Sharjah, and there were reports of a mini twister in Al Ain the previous year.
